The renowned Boston illustrator has an ability to not only paint realistic portraits but goes far beyond that to capture the soul of his subjects. It has been said of Trenton: “He looks through their eyes and sees their world thus his illustrations are stunning depictions.”

Since graduation from art school in Savannah, Trenton has liven in New England where he has committed himself to perfecting portraiture and especially refining the elements that communicate the inner being. “John Lennon was a perfect subject for me because he represents—to me at least—a person who was an outer shell filled with light and hope and love and it was constantly coming out of him creatively,” the artist explains.

“I particularly wanted to paint his hair in a wild way because it seemed to hint at his rebellious, uncontrollable side—another great trait I admire in him. This image was based on his last days in New York as he was experiencing a revitalization of his creative vision after some down years. Although time had taken some toll—reflected here in his face—the spark was still evident. I pictured him squinting toward the future as he was about to re-invent himself yet one more time for a new generation."
